Incentives for renewable energy self-generation for SMEs

New REPowerEU Funding Window for SMEs

From July 8 to September 30, 2025, the new REPowerEU funding window is open for SMEs investing in photovoltaic systems, small-scale wind turbines, and energy storage solutions. A total budget of €178.6 million is available in the form of non-repayable grants.

The incentive covers

  • Up to 40% of costs for small enterprises (30% for medium-sized enterprises) for the purchase and installation of renewable energy systems.
  • 30% of costs for energy storage systems.
  • 50% of expenses incurred for energy certification (where not legally required).

Each application may refer to only one production site, with a maximum investment amount of €1 million. Projects must be started only after the application has been submitted.

Excluded beneficiaries

  • Specific sectors listed in Annex 1 of the call for proposals.
  • Energy-intensive companies and those with high CO₂ emissions (ETS).
  • Applicants that already participated in the June 2025 funding window.
